How to protect your hair in the Sun!

Posted by admin 02/05/2018 0 Comment(s)

Sun, Sea & Sand...

These can make our hair dry, tangled and lifeless - follow these steps on how to keep your hair looking soft & shiny at all times.

Shampoo with Care

Shampooing your hair every day especially in the warmer months can make your natural hair oils disappear and dry out your hair. Keratin shampoos are perfect, as our hair contains Keratin so this is keeping our hair feeling and looking soft.

H&B offer a product similar to your dry shampoos that you can use for in between washes to soak up excess oil without causing further damage. No rinse Cream (smells amazing) and will be your go to product for when you need that extra volume for your hair.

Use Conditioner

The sun is drying out your hair so you need to make sure you help restore some moisture and life in it by using the right conditioner- If you are going for a swim or simply sunbathing apply a thin layer of Hair serum or Mineral Treatment Conditioner in your hair before you do to protect it, this will wrap around each hair fiber and creates a protective layer. The silicones in the conditioner will keep the chlorine and other chemicals away from your hair.

Hair Treatments and Masks

Whether you have dyed hair or not you need to take extra care of it during the summer months.

Use hair care products to protect your hair at all times especially throughout the summer months - Like most hair treatments/Masks you apply these to your hair after shampooing.

A tip from the professional is to leave it around 20-30 minutes while you are relaxing around the pool or for an overnight treatment wrap your hair in a towel and when you wake up your hair will be left soft and frizz free.

Cover Up

The best way to protect your hair against the sun is wearing a hat, cap or scarf. If it's not to your liking then make sure you are protecting with a leave in a hair mask or serum.

Swimming

Did you know that swimming is bad for your hair too? Chlorine strips your hair of its natural oils leaving it feeling and looking dry. Also the heavy salt content in the sea water draws water out of your hair and skin. Make sure you are well prepared.

Avoid Heat and use Heat protection

The sun is already heating and drying your hair so if you can avoid using hairdryers or flat irons as much as you can. If required, wash your hair half an hour earlier so it has time to air dry.

Use the Hair serums to then protect the hair for the rest of the day.

Finish your final look with our Keratin Hairspray which is perfect for the finishing shine your hair needs.
